Industry new

The price has entered the “low valley”, should we plant fruit trees?

This year, many media reported that “Peach is on the basket”, which has caused many farmers, especially the farmers, to worry. In fact, every kind of fruit will face price fluctuations and market ups and downs. This is a normal market phenomenon. However, it should also be noted that when a large area of fruit continues to concentrate and enters a low price, the fruit grower should be wary of the planting variety and have an understanding of the market size.

Xu Mingju, a teacher and senior agronomist at the Department of Modern Agriculture at Linyi Agricultural Science and Technology Vocational College, said that as a modern agricultural practitioner, especially a new professional farmer, it should have a different vision and more systematic management knowledge than the traditional scattered farmers. These skills can only be obtained through learning and accumulation. With such skills, we can calmly respond to the crisis, and even plan ahead and expect the enemy to win.

In the current economic environment, no industry or sector can be closed. The same is true for fruit trees. If the price of fruit continues to fall, the new professional farmers should show calmness and rationality, and then judge the situation of fruit planting from a macro perspective to find out the problem.

Fruit tree variety: see the market and choose again

There are indeed many problems with the current planting of fruit trees. First of all, it should be said that the variety structure is unreasonable.

The development of fruit industry, the choice of varieties is the basis. However, many growers are easy to follow the trend blindly at this time. Taking Apple as an example, the current proportion of Red Fuji is too large. In addition, the proportion of early, middle and late ripe varieties is also somewhat dysfunctional. This tends to lead to concentrated listings, low selling prices and high sales pressure. The development of peaches, there are many fruit farmers who think that the varieties of early maturity can save money and sell early. As a result, some places are full of early peaches...

For the time being, the development of fruit trees should be more focused on improving the quality of the fruit while selecting the varieties. Taking peaches as an example, the focus is on improving the proportion of high-quality fruit and high-grade fruit, and promoting the transformation of the peach industry from yield-effectiveness to quality-effectiveness. At the same time, according to the market demand to adjust the variety structure, the cultivation area of peach late-maturing varieties can be appropriately increased.

Cultivation mode: the starting point may be higher

Based on the natural conditions of Shandong, it is more suitable for the development of apples, pears, peaches and other fruits. In recent years, new cultivation modes such as apple high spindle shape, peach Y shape, trunk shape, and pear tree spindle shape have shown high benefits in various places. However, there are still many fruit farmers who are accustomed to the past management model, resulting in large scale and low efficiency of local fruit industry. For example, at present, the proportion of the apples and pear gardens in the province is still high. The orchard under this traditional mode is quite difficult to manage, mechanization is difficult to achieve, and production costs are high and difficult, resulting in poor economic returns. This shows that the modern cultivation mode with the main features of labor saving and intensification still faces the pressure of promotion. In particular, some business owners have entered the agriculture as “outside the door” and believe that if they have money, they will have a big gain and ignore the technical input. Because of the lack of professional technical talent, many people have suffered big losses.

Fruit quality: promotion requires a lot of effort

Sometimes fruit also loves to blame consumers: why not buy such a good-looking fruit?

In fact, this really does not blame consumers. Now that all kinds of fruits and vegetables are full of the market, there is more room for everyone to choose, and there is also a new concept of consumption. Since spending money, of course, we must buy it. The so-called good, not only looks good, but also delicious.

This exposes a problem. It is not that the fruit is not easy to sell, but that there are too few fruits that make consumers feel good and good. At present, the trend of high quality and high price of fruit is becoming more and more obvious. This also raises a question for the fruit farmers to manage the orchard: planting fruit trees, I want to make money, but how can I make money? Xu Mingju visited a lot of orchards. In some orchards, the output is OK, but it is difficult to improve the quality. For example, the orchard's standardized production level is low, too dependent on the traditional cultivation mode, and the large use of chemical fertilizers results in low sugar content and low flavor. Some orchards are harvested too early, so that the products do not show unique flavors and so on. For such an orchard, if you do not actively upgrade, you must face the elimination.

Future development: What will happen to the trend?

In addition, it should also be noted that in recent years, labor and agricultural prices have risen significantly, resulting in a significant increase in fruit tree production costs. Under the pressure of high investment, if upgraded, it will also test the enthusiasm and courage of the fruit farmers. In the face of such problems or problems, there will be many farmers who are guilty of misunderstandings and questions: What is the future trend of fruit tree planting? What should we do?

In this regard, some suggestions provided by Xu Mingju are available for your reference.

First of all, the labor-saving and high-efficiency cultivation mode is an inevitable trend of current and future development. Modern technologies such as wide-line planting, orchard grass, and water and fertilizer integration will also be adopted by more orchards. In addition, when planning the development of orchards, fruit farmers should comprehensively consider and combine the reality of their own family farms and cooperatives to further consider the establishment of distinctive ecological sightseeing picking gardens, or to build brands and develop groups.

At a training meeting held in Yantai, Professor Liu Chenglian of Qingdao Agricultural University also made recommendations on apple planting. Professor Liu believes that to develop apple cultivation, it is necessary to establish a correct new concept of modern cultivation, timely introduce and digest foreign advanced cultivation techniques, timely update and renovation of old orchards, and implementation of intensive cultivation of short anvils in new orchards will be the development of apples in Shandong Province. inevitable choice. Xu Mingju said that Liu Chenglian’s suggestion is that there is a realistic background: at present, the degree of mechanization of apple cultivation is relatively low, and the level of management of fertilizer and water is quite different from that of foreign countries. Especially in the use of foliar fertilizer, the gap between foreign countries is more prominent... These problems, Lead to the serious occurrence of physiological diseases of apple fruit in China. Recognizing these issues is also conducive to the overall scientific development of the fruit industry.
